bagworms

One of the more common insect pests that we notice while doing our tree and shrub application are bagworms.

This time of year is when they are emerging as larva and feeding on the leaves of the tree which can often times lead to defoliation. Defoliation can lead to severe damage or death of the tree.

Their favorites are arborvitae and red cedar but many other conifers and deciduous trees are also fed upon.

bagworm identification

These little caterpillars create a bag that they carry around with them until it’s time to pupate and become their adult selves. They like to camouflage their bag with little bits of the tree they are living on and as the year progresses the bag will get bigger as they drag it around on the tree

Our tree and shrub program is designed to help control these using both insect prevention and insect curative applications. Our technicians are trained to take care of the trees and shrubs in your lawn including all the creepy, crawly, and wiggly pests that your trees don’t enjoy.

If your trees and shrubs need some TLC, give us a call and we’ll get you set up.
